Rand Water maintenance | Joburg residents urged not to panic-buy

JOHANNESBURG - Concerns are being raised about panic-buying of water in parts of Gauteng.
The frenzy follows the announcement of infrastructure maintenance in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Rand Water is embarking on an extensive maintenance programme this week.

It says it's necessary to reduce long-term costs and increase the life span of its assets.
The utility is promising to ensure alternative water is provided during the outages.
Adding to the panic is the planned shutdown of the Lesotho Highland Tunnel.
It will be closed from October till March and will affect supply to Gauteng and the Free State.
