NBC Analyst Ripped for ‘Biased’ Bryson DeChambeau Commentary During U.S. Open Victory
Longtime golf fans may already be aware of the 'beef' NBC analyst Brandel Chamblee seems to have with LIV Golf.
On Sunday at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, the rest of the golf world appeared to find out as LIV star Bryson DeChambeau earned his second major title with a one-shot victory over PGA Tour veteran Rory McIlroy.
DeChambeau, in the midst of firing a final-round 71 on Sunday, was routinely singled out by Chamblee for his poor driving accuracy and 'luck' in finding manageable lies in the native areas off the fairway.
Fans couldn't help but point out Chamblee's somewhat 'biased' commentary during the final round of the U.S. Open.
"Brandel Chamblee is completely embarrassing, unprofessional, biased, and beyond annoying. It’s a shame that he gets to announce on major stages like this, he takes away from the viewing experience @NBCSports," one fan wrote.
"Brandel Chamblee is unbearable in his coverage of DeChambeau right now. Dudes way too biased to be on the air anymore. S--ts annoying," Lenny said.
"Wow does Brandel Chamblee ever hate Bryson DeChambeau. Totally biased. #USOpen," Brandon posted.
"Watching brandel grasping at straws trying to tarnish Bryson’s win is something to behold," another fan wrote.
Despite the somewhat negative commentary during play this afternoon, Chamblee did offer some words of praise to the U.S. Open winner after the round.
"It's very entertaining. You can't deny that," Chamblee said. "And when you put that with his power and the fact that he does - he does just have a clutch gene."
DeChambeau will make his bid for back-to-back majors at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon in July.
