Ed Davey praises Princess of Wales and Alan Bates
Thoughts and prayers go to her especially, but also her family and the whole royal family and wish her a speedy recovery. I think the way she's engaging people and telling them about what's going on is really to be praised. And now I've had cancer experience in my family. I asked both my parents to cancer when I was a young person, a child. And you know, the fact that she's fighting it so hard, I think the whole country's behind her. Well, I want to congratulate Adam Bates. This is thoroughly deserved. And he said it's not just for him but on behalf of all sub postmasters. And it's, that's really good news. He fought the system, sometimes single handedly before it bravely, and he won. And that's all to his credit. And and I think we need now to get the compensation he's talked about. He's fought for compensation fair and generous. And it's just been too delayed. And I think all people want to do that. I'm fighting for constituents who've been hit by this scandal as well. And I think we need to learn the lessons. And, you know, when the system lies to people, you know, you normally assume the system's going to tell the truth, but they lie to the supposed masters. They lie to MPs and ministers of all parties, they lie to the courts and it was only the whistleblower in 2015 and 2019 that that show that they've been a conspiracy of lies. And all credit to Alan Bates for determinedly fighting that system.
