Free-agent DB Stephon Gilmore addresses playing future

Stephon Gilmore garnered some attention for comments about potentially being finished with the NFL earlier in the offseason. He made himself clear recently, however, that he is waiting for someone to call.
Gilmore attended Tom Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Wednesday and told reporters he would weigh “any options” that came his way regarding potentially playing again. It does sound like Gilmore is still being very picky about where he might play, though.
“Being patient right now,” Gilmore said, via Nick O’Malley of Mass Live. “I feel good, Year 13, been playing a long time. So I’m just being patient and waiting for the right opportunity.”
It remains to be seen if the right opportunity will come his way. The veteran cornerback had previously suggested that if it didn’t, he was content to sit out the season. With training camp looming, time may be running out for him to find that opportunity.
Gilmore performed well with the Dallas Cowboys last season, but teams may be skeptical of a corner who turns 34 in September. He could still help some teams, and at least one player would like to play alongside him.
