PFF ranks Aaron Rodgers as 8th best quarterback heading into 2024
PFF ranks Aaron Rodgers as 8th best quarterback heading into 2024
Pro Football Focus has released its position rankings for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. While these rankings aren’t perfect, they do provide some barometer for how well the New York Jets’ roster stacks up to competing teams. As part of their rankings, PFF released the quarterback rankings, where Aaron Rodgers ranked 8th. Specifically, their top 10 was as follows:
- New York Jets Aaron Rodgers
While they did provide a raw ranking from 1-32, they also provided a tiered system that better explains how they view the relative quality of the quarterbacks.
- Tier 1: “Mahomes” featuring only Patrick Mahomes.
- Tier 2: “The Elite” featuring Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen.
- Tier 3: “Postseason caliber QBs” featuring the rest of the top 10.
Overall PFF views Rodgers as being of a similar quality to Herbert, Prescott, Stafford, Hurts, and Stroud, who are all really great quarterbacks. Given Rodgers is coming off a major injury, this seems like a fairly positive outlook for 2024 and would be a welcome sight for Jets fans this season.
If Rodgers were to live up to his PFF ranking then it would likely be one of the largest one-year improvements in quarterback play that has been seen in recent memory, making the Jets are a far better team in 2024 than they were in 2023.
What do you think about the ranking? Is eight a fair ranking for Rodgers?
