Pilgrims entering Mecca for Hajj take steps to protect themselves from heat - AP explains
Over 1.5 million Muslim Belgians flocked to Saudis Arabia holy city of Mecca ahead of start of heights later this week, almost approaching the numbers of pilgrims before the COVID pandemic. Meanwhile, women are just required to wear conservatively clothes and cover their hair. Many kilograms often use umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun as they cannot wear any hats to cover their heads while women can't. Pilgrims can also wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun. Pilgrims are encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and other liquids. Some also apply scent to free sunscreen to protect their skin from sunburn and heat related issues. Medical staff and hydration stations are often available throughout Hajj pilgrims roots to assist pilgrims.
