Arsenal news: Edu faces transfer delay as Gunners name fee for midfielder star
The transfer window is officially open.
It's set to be a busy summer for Arsenal as they look overtake Manchester City in the Premier League once again and will have an eye on strengthening their squad. The possibility of landing a new forward remains on the horizon while they may also ponder reinforcements on the wing.
They will undoubtedly field interest in some of their own stars too. Established professionals and prospects alike will see suitors make their bids for permanent transfers and loan deals alike.
Edu and Mikel Arteta could be left with difficult decisions as offers arrive for the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smithe Rowe. With that said Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest news from the Emirates.
Aaron Ramsdale transfer stance
Talk of a transfer for the Arsenal goalkeeper has been firmly on the agenda this summer after he lost his place to David Raya during 2023/24. Ramsdale nevertheless made the cut for Eng;and's Euro 2024 squad in Germany.
"No footballer wants to not play," Ramsdale told talkSPORT ahead of England's opening match versus Serbia. "I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again."
International football appears to have given him a release however, after a 'tough' perioid. "I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my chest, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if I play a minute or no minutes [and England win the Euros], it will be the pinnacle for me, the best day ever," he said.

"For the time being I’m probably one of the happiest 26, 27 men in England and hopefully we can make not just us but however many millions at home the happiest as well."
Arsenal name price for Emile Smith Rowe
Another Gunners star who could be on the way this summer. Smith Rowe made just 19 appearances last term and saw a lot of time among the subsitutues at the Emirates.
The midfielder's contract runs until 2026 but Arsenl are reportedly ready to cash-in. Fulham are already thought to have registered their interest in the 23-year-old.
Edu and co have placed a £30million price-tag on their academy product, who has played 115 times for the north Londoners.
Transfer delay explained
Profit and Sustainability rules could see the Gunners wait to confirm any incoming transfer activity. Arsenal were reluctant to bring players in during the January window to ensure they stay on the right side of such rules.
While the club are undoubtedly hard at work to get deals done in the summer, any confirmation of a new arrival will still count towards the same accounts until the turn of the month. Navigating through until June 30, will allow a great deal more flexibility under which they can conduct their business per football.london.
