Nationwide outage affecting airport e-gates resolved, border force says
E-gate issue causes major delays at Sydney Airport
A nationwide outage with immigration e-gates has been resolved after it caused delays at Sydney International Airport and Brisbane Airport.
The Australian Border Force confirmed the technical issue impacting smart gates at airports across the country has been fixed but the cause remains unknown.
"We apologise for any delays passengers are experiencing," a spokesperson said.
Extra border force officers were deployed at Sydney Airport, which experienced the worst delays in the country with lines stretching from the immigration gate to the other end of the terminal.
"Flying international out of Sydney? There is a km long queue for immigration check," one traveller said on social media.
Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar flights were not impacted by the delays as ground staff called passengers forward.
