Undercover RCMP officer gives testimony as Coutts blockade trial continues
Members of the public and media listened in from another room as the cross examination continued of an undercover police officer whose identity is being protected for their safety. The witness outlined her communications with Chris Carbert and Anthony Oleneck on a day in February outside of the Smuggler's Saloon, also known as the Blockade Organizers headquarters. She noted Olinix frustration was focused on police while everyone else was protesting the provincial and federal governments and vaccine mandates. Said Olenex spoke of war, fighting, death and dying, echoing her statements from Wednesday when she said Olenick believed he wouldn't survive the blockade. The defense questioned the accuracy of the witnesses memory and suggested her recollections have become influenced by news and media over the two years since the protest occurred. The witness also described an interaction between herself, her partner, Olenick and Carbert where she was asked to transport a heavy bag of what she thought may have been guns. She said Olinick and Carbert did not confirm or deny if there were firearms in the bag. The trial continues on Friday morning at the Lethbridge courthouse. Jordan Prentice. Global News.
