New York Giants QB Daniel Jones contract 'likely to linger' among NFL's worst
The New York Giants will have a vital decision to make after the 2024 season when it comes to the contract of quarterback Daniel Jones.
Though Jones is entering the second of a four-year deal worth $160 million, the Giants technically have an out in the contract following the 2024 campaign.
It isn't the cleanest out considering they would still take on a dead-cap hit of $22.21 million in 2025.
This is partly why Bleacher Report's David Kenyon ranked it as the 10th-worst contract in the NFL, noting that even though the Giants are only tied to Jones through 2024, "the contract is likely to linger."
If the Giants parted ways with Jones after the 2024 season, they would save roughly $19.4 million in salary-cap space, according to Over The Cap.
If they waited until after the 2025 season, they would save $47 million against the salary cap. However, a bonus trigger in March 2025 of $12 million guaranteed likely means the decision will come then.

Jones has a lot to prove in Year 6. He's coming off a torn ACL in what was a lost season even before he suffered the injury.
Jones is expected to be ready for the start of training camp and said this offseason he has no doubt he'll be ready for Week 1.
If his career is going to remain with the Giants after 2024, he's going to have to bounce back in a big way.
