Seasoned aspirants join roster of Miss World Philippines 2024 candidates

The Miss World Philippines pageant has attracted crossover beauties from other national competitions, and seasoned aspirants from local contests in its previous editions. And this year’s competition is no exception.

The 35 official candidates of the 2024 Miss World Philippines pageant were introduced to members of the media at the Press Presentation show held in Parañaque City on Saturday, June 15.

Among the bevy of beauties are familiar faces including former Miss Charm Philippines and 2023 Miss Universe Philippines finalist Krishnah Gravidez, who shocked the local pageantry scene when she announced that she will no longer compete in the yet to be scheduled 2024 Miss Charm pageant based in Vietnam.

She made the announcement a day before the Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPH) shared its second batch of aspirants on social media, a list that included her as the official representative from Baguio City. The pageant had already released the names of those who passed the final screening conducted a week before at that time. Gravidez was among the contestants sent by local affiliates.

Aside from Gravidez, two more Miss Universe Philippines alumnae who had just competed in the national competition in May are also joining this year’s Miss World Philippines pageant, Miss Cream Silk Dia Maté and Top 20 finisher Patricia Bianca Tapia.

Coming from the Binibining Pilipinas stable are former semifinalists Jasmine Omay and Jean Isabelle Bilasano, and Jane Darren Genobisa who competed in the rival pageant more than once.

Rhiana Agatha Pangindian, meanwhile, is taking another shot at the Miss World Philippines crown, three years since her proclamation as “First Princess” in the 2021 pageant won by Tracy Maureen Perez.

Former Limgas na Pangasinan-World Nikki Buenafe has finally gotten her chance to go to the nationals more than a year since earning her provincial crown. Gabrielle Lantzer, meanwhile, is set to relinquish her Miss Manila crown this month.

The 2024 Miss World Philippines pageant will proclaim three winners. Aside from the main crown, also up for grabs are the Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas and Miss Philippines Tourism titles. The new queens will be known at the coronation show on July 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

No competition was held last year because the international Miss World pageant kept on postponing its 71st edition, with 2022 national titleholder Gwen Fourniol made to wait for more than a year until she competed abroad. No details about the 72nd edition of the global tilt, including the date and venue of the contest, have been announced so far.
