From hypercars to hyperbikes
MCLAREN Automotive, known for its groundbreaking supercars and hypercars like the McLaren P1, is entering the electric hyperbike market with the launch of its debut range of electric mountain bikes.
Inspired by McLaren's award-winning supercars, this limited-edition four-bike range incorporates the company's performance-focused design and technology into the electric two-wheeled world for the first time.
Designed by the same teams behind supercars such as the McLaren Artura hybrid, these e-bikes feature signature McLaren elements like carbon-fiber construction and advanced electrification, ensuring a high-performance experience.
From hypercars to hyperbikes
The powerful motors of the e-bikes enhance their high power-to-weight ratio, a key attribute mirrored in McLaren supercars. Engineered for top-tier performance, these bikes boast torque figures that surpass those of other premium e-bikes.
To underpin the connection to supercars, McLaren's design team has created a digital display with graphics similar to those in their cars. This display provides telemetry information, including speed, battery life, and range, on a full-color integrated LCD panel on the handlebars.
The range includes four distinct models: Extreme 600, Extreme 250, Sport 600, and Sport 250, each designed for a variety of terrains from city streets to mountain trails.
The flagship McLaren 600 models aim to be the world's most powerful street-legal electric mountain bikes. In Race mode, they deliver up to 852 watts of peak power and reach top speeds of 20 mph (32 kph).
Two electric mountain bike models are available in limited numbers: a 29-inch hardtail version and a full-suspension version with a 29-inch front wheel, 27.5-inch rear wheel, 145 mm of rear travel, and 160 mm of fork travel.
The Extreme 600W and Extreme 250W feature SRAM wireless XX Eagle Transmission 12-speed drivetrains, while the Sport 600W and Sport 250W come with mechanical SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrains.
The McLaren Sport is an all-purpose mountain bike, equally suited for off-road adventures and aggressive single tracks. It features integrated componentry and a minimalist frame design for a pure McLaren aesthetic. Riders can choose from several power modes via the digital display: Off: No motor assist; Eco: energy conservation for longer rides; Trail: a balanced mix of power and efficiency; Sport: extra power for challenging trails; and Race: maximum power and torque.
McLaren Extreme
The McLaren Extreme is a full-suspension electric mountain bike designed for optimal off-road performance, control and comfort. It includes all five power modes available on the McLaren Sport and is equipped with Pirelli tires for enhanced durability and grip.
