The Los Angeles Lakers are actively seeking a new head coach and have already engaged with several potential candidates.
Among those considered for the position are former NBA player and LeBron James' podcast co-host JJ Redick, who is emerging as a leading candidate, ex-All-Star and current Boston Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell, and New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego.
According to Jovan Buha and Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Lakers' front office, led by team president Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss, is not limiting their search to these three, as they continue to evaluate other options.
Next in line for interviews is Minnesota Timberwolves lead assistant coach Micah Nori, who is temporarily taking the reins on the court while head coach Chris Finch recovers from knee surgery. Nori brings a wealth of experience, having been an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, and Detroit Pistons over the past decade.
Also in the mix are Denver Nuggets assistant coach David Adelman, who transitioned to the NBA after a start in high school coaching, and Miami Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn, who has transitioned from his playing days as an NBA point guard to a coaching role that began at Northwestern University and has continued with the Heat since 2014.
The Lakers are methodically progressing through their coaching search with the aim of finding the right leader to steer the team forward.
