New mums delivered flowers at King Edward Memorial Hospital from Subi Blooms 2024 installation
In the spirit of motherly appreciation, City of Subiaco staff visited King Edward Memorial Hospital on Mother’s Day to deliver flowers from its Subi Bloom installation to new and expecting mothers.
Subi Blooms was a showcase of WA’s most extravagant floral artistry held last weekend, with 19 installations weaving from Subiaco train station to Theatre Gardens, as well as in Shenton Park.
As it wrapped up on Sunday, city staff gave new life to the remaining blooms by offering colourful bouquets to new and expecting mothers, as well as staff working at the specialist women’s and infants hospital.
“This heartfelt gesture not only brought a burst of colour and joy to hospital wards but also honoured the tireless dedication of healthcare workers, embodying the essence of community and connection that defines Subi Blooms,” a City of Subiaco spokesperson said.

Subi Blooms also featured a large-scale interactive art installation by Sydney-based art installation company ENESS called Stem by Stem.
The 6m by 3m artwork was in the form of two quirky creatures who interacted with visitors using motion tracking eyes, swirling colours and soft synth notes that would change as people moved within the space.
Nestled in the arms of the lovable creatures were a bundle of overflowing flower bouquets created by one of Perth’s most renowned florists and Subi Blooms veteran, Sir Botanical.
