Nairobi - Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has spoken out about his dramatic arrest by the police.
Keter was arrested on Sunday, June 30, in front of his wife and children while heading to church.
Speaking at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, Keter narrated his interrogations with the detectives.
He disclosed that detectives wanted to know bout his relationship with former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The former lawmaker was also questioned about alleged illegal arms from Congo, which he described as a movie.
"I was asked about my relationship with the former president, Uhuru Kenyatta, and my relationship with the current deputy president, and then issues to do with arms from Congo. I think it is a movie, but let us allow it to go as per the law, but generally don't intimidate us into silence.
However, Keter linked his tribulation to his opposition to the recently rejected Finance Bill 2024.
According to Keter, President William Ruto's administration was targeting leaders who supported the Gen Z demonstration.
"So, generally, we cannot be silent because we are raising issues of concern. He spoke about many lies yesterday, including a child who was shot with over eight bullets, and he was telling Kenyans that he is not aware whether he is still living or not," he added.
