Zane Smith: ‘Need to put some more of these weekends together’ after runner-up at Nashville
Saint Smith with the runner up finish here at Nashville, your career best in the NASCAR Cup Series. How did you survive all the overtimes, all the restarts there at the end? Yeah, I mean, I have, I have no idea. Obviously proud of our strategy that that we had there with a group of us. And then I didn't know how long we were going to hold on once we had just all those guys line up with four tires behind us. But frustrating hearing those guys that are close on fuel. But. And then just obviously being short, but yeah, I mean, Nashville is so notorious for. Just crazy restarts how everything just floats up and I don't know if that's from it being concrete or or what. And obviously the aggression is always super high, but just kept choosing bottom and we were able to roll and it's crazy how much different these cars drive and and cleaner air. So it's great to to feel some of that it's it's brutal back there so. We showed where our car is capable of, just need to put some more of these weekends together. We didn't know if the 22 had enough fuel to make it there to the end. And I know a hot day for you guys here in Nashville. Was there anything else at the end you could have done differently? I don't think so. I mean, maybe focus on a little bit better three and four, but I wanted I didn't want to baby it through three and four. And like I said, these cars, the capability and once you're up front and then cleaner air is so much more versus what you get to feel late further back in the pack. So I. It's it's crazy experiencing that and that's what I'm here for and experience this rookie year. These are the experiences that I'm looking forward to compete for better finishes and and obviously we we all want wins, but Sunday is no joke. So just proud of of our result. Thanks, Zane. Thanks.
