Boeing Agrees to Buy Spirit Aero for $4.7 Billion in Stock Deal
What are the key details? What do we know about this acquisition of aerospace here? Spirits, Arrow? Yeah, this, this is a very important transaction that has been underway for the last several months through this year. And So what we've got is a transaction worth $4.7 billion, that's 3737.25 cents a share, Then that will take the overall deal from Boeing taking on a spirit to in the region of 8.3 billion U.S. dollars. And this is sort of a homecoming for Spirit to be reintegrated back into Boeing after Boeing had divested out of this. One of his key suppliers for many years now and so it's a really important. Bringing it back into the business and the reason why it is bringing it back into the business is because of, as you said at the top, a series of issues that have have manifested itself over many years and in particular, more recently key questions about Bones ability to manufacture planes safely. And so therefore, by bringing Spirit back in house, it is hoped that Boeing will be able to have better control over quality and manufacturing across the board. And there's something that Dave Calhoun, the Boeing president. And CEO has outlined that this transaction means that Boeing's commitment to quality is underpinned in in spending big in taking control and putting more of the effort of building planes back in house. Also as part of this deal of Airbus, the European plane maker will also take part of this spirit.
