US Supreme Court to decide on Trump immunity case Monday

A much anticipated ruling is set to come down from the US Supreme Court on Monday, when justices will be meeting for the final time this term. The court expected to decide whether former President Donald Trump is immune from prosecution for his role in the January 6th riot at the US Capitol. The president has to have community. This has nothing to do with me. This has to do with a president in the future. For 100 years from now. Trump still faces indictments in three cases in federal and state courts for his alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. And his mishandling of classified documents. In October, the 78 year old sought to have the charges dismissed because he was serving as president when he took the actions that led to the indictments. So the Supreme Court is not going to say that a president is immune from criminal prosecution for anything that they do while they're in office. So the question that the court is really facing is, is the president immune for anything at all, any of this his official duties? And if he is immune for some subset of his official duties? What is that subset, and how do you figure out what that subset is? When arguments on the matter were heard in April, most justices seemed unswayed by Trump's argument that presidents should have absolute immunity for official acts. But conservative justices, who hold a six, three majority, appear to support US presidents having some level of protection from criminal charges for certain acts taken in office. But I wouldn't just let the board open the door to the possibility that a president could be immune from prosecution for some. Criminal statutes that infringe on official dates but not these ones and that Donald Trump's trial should proceed. However the court rules, the fact that a decision has been held until Monday means there is likely not enough time for Trump to stand trial before the November 5th presidential election.
