"Drinking hot water can aid in breaking down fat molecules in your diet more efficiently, promoting weight loss. It's important to ensure the water is at a tolerable temperature for your body to avoid burning your mouth," Dr Vanshika Bhardwaj, Senior Dietician, Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram told IndiaToday.In.

Drinking hot or warm water can help improve digestion, which can enhance nutrient absorption and metabolism.

Hot water also benefits dry skin and helps relieve constipation, said the expert.

"For optimal results, drink hot water when you wake up and before meals, aiming for a temperature around 50 degrees Celsius. A glass of hot water before a shower may also help lower blood pressure," said Dr Bhardwaj.

Besides this, water before meals can help you feel fuller, potentially reducing calorie intake.

Hot water contributes to maintaining blood pressure, enhancing skin radiance, aiding digestion, detoxifying the body, and alleviating menstrual discomfort, as per the expert.

How much water should you drink?

"Aim to consume at least five glasses of hot water throughout the day to maximise these benefits," said Dr Bhardwaj.

According to the latest guidelines by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), having 8 glasses of water every day keeps the body hydrated and well-balanced.
