Speed.
It's something Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian's staff has heavily valued on the recruiting trail since arriving in Austin. Fast forward to 2024 and its now the one word used to describe Texas' theme on offense this season.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers discussed a variety of topics with reporters at the Manning Passing Academy this week. On Texas Football's CJ Vogel asked Ewers what he thought the theme of Texas' offense would be as they enter its first season of SEC play and speed was the first thing that came to his mind.
He isn't wrong.
Texas' wide receiver room itself is full of playmakers with Silas Bolden, Johntay Cook and Matthew Golden bringing elite speed to the offense. At running back, Cedric Baxter and Jaydon Blue can fly. Blue recorded one of the fastest runs of the 2023 college football season reaching 21.8 miles per hour and Baxter ran a 4.5 40-yard dash in high school.
Texas will showcase its speed during the season opener on Aug. 31 against Colorado State.
