A bride left guests 'shocked' after asking her bridesmaids to all wear wedding dresses - because she wanted them to 'get the attention they deserved'.

Kirsty Stewart, from Moseley, Liverpool, got married to Andrew Stewart on 15 June at Pryors Hayes Golf Club, Cheshire, and requested her five bridesmaids wear white on her big day - even buying them dresses designed for brides.

The 33-year-old wanted her bridal party to fit with her 'neutral' colour scheme and decided to buy bridal dresses she found on ASOS for around £150, hoping it would help her loved ones feel 'special'.

Despite her bridesmaid's initial concerns, the 'confident' bride believed she would still 'stand out' in her £2,300 dress from Natalie Ann Brides.

The district nurse leader revealed that while many brides fear being shown up on their wedding day, Kirsty wanted her bridal party to share in the 'attention' as they were a 'massive' part of the celebrations.

Kirsty said: 'I felt they deserve the attention as well because they were a massive part of my day. I didn't feel like it'd take any attention off me at all. We're all really close.

'I wanted something a little bit different. I came across the dresses and thought they'd suit everyone's style. They were actually called bridal dresses. I really liked them.

'I knew I always wanted to have it because it fit really well with the neutral, romantic, candle-lit theme of the wedding. I thought it was really nice to have us all the same.

'The groomsmen always wear the same suit as the groom so I thought ''why shouldn't the bridesmaid's wear the same colour?''

'My bridesmaids were saying ''are you sure, we don't want to take any attention off you''. I said ''no, you are a big part of the day. Attention should be on you as well''. It was really nice for them to get the attention they deserved.

'We did get a lot of shocked people. But all the guests were close friends and family so they knew I was the bride.'

The bride revealed that she believed her dress, which was slightly different to her bridesmaids, still made her 'stand out' and she felt 'confident in herself' regardless.

Lorna, who is a 32-year-old finance worker and also lives in Moseley, Liverpool, said she felt 'really special' in the dress

Kirsty said: 'My dress had statement arms on it so it was different and my hair was different. I felt confident enough that that would make me stand out.

'But as the bride you do feel confident in yourself. It's a day to feel good about yourself. It was really lovely. I couldn't have asked for it to go any better.'

Kirsty's cousin Lorna Eames, who was one of the five bridesmaids, revealed the bride's choice of dress made her feel 'really special' and reminded her of the outfit she wore to her own elopement in December 2023.

Lorna, who is a 32-year-old finance worker and also lives in Moseley, Liverpool, said: 'I felt really special in the dress and that's how Kirsty wanted us to feel. She wanted us all to have our moment.

'I expected Kirsty to try something out of the ordinary. She's got a very keen eye for style. I loved it from the get-go.

'It felt amazing. I got married in December of last year so the dress I wore for my own wedding probably wasn't much more than the bridesmaid dress.'
