Take-home pay index | Marginal salary recovery in May

JOHANNESBURG - Salaries in South Africa continue to outperform 2023 levels.
The latest BankservAfrica Take-home Pay Index shows that the average nominal salary showed a partial recovery.
Take-home pay reached R15,888 in May, a 10 percent increase year-on-year.
The business environment has improved meaningfully compared to 2023, with no rolling blackouts over the past three months positively influencing companies’ ability to pay better salary increases in 2024.
