The property, located in Sandhills Holiday Park, Christchurch, Dorset, has left house hunters 'astounded' at its staggering nine-figure price.

Listed as an 'extraordinary holiday home', the lodge promises 'breathtaking panoramic sea views' over Christchurch Harbour.

Park Holidays UK who represent Sandhills say it 'may be setting a new British record for the price of a holiday lodge on a park' - but say it is a 'remarkable' holiday home that is cheaper than houses in the area.

Marketed by estate agents Denisons, the property spans just 958sq ft of interior space - but manages to squeeze in three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open plan kitchen and living area and a sky deck, but is only available for 11 months of the year.

Further justifying the large price tag, a spokesperson for Denison Estate Agents added: 'The home is bespoke, designed by the owner. It sits on a nice location with outstanding views'

The £1.5m holiday home prompted mixed reactions on social media - including many pointing out that it 'only' had 31 years left on its lease.

Many users were shocked by the high price, with one comment branding it a 'glorified shed'.

Others pointed out that the 'great location' in Christchurch, a sought after holiday destination, justified the property's expense.

The caravan park is open for 11 months of the year - all besides February - and houses a range of caravans, lodges and luxury apartments, which are for holiday use only.

Potential owners will have to share an outdoor heated swimming pool with neighbours and have access to a gym, lounge bar and a children's play area.

While the price of a seafront pitch in the holiday park is unsurprisingly not cheap, a two-bedroom lodge in the area is on sale for considerably less at £595,000, according to Park Holidays.

A spokesperson for Denisons estate agents said: 'There are others on the development that aren't on that level but this is quite unique and [another factor is] what money's been spent on it.

'The home is bespoke, designed by the owner. It sits on a nice location with outstanding views. Across the water are the beach huts at Mudeford, which fetch £400-500,000 for a smaller beach-side home.'

Many Reddit users took to the comments to criticise the extortionate price, with one saying it was a 'very nice static caravan', before sarcastically correcting themselves and changing it to 'park home'.

One user said: 'Most expensive mobile home ever?'

Others added: 'I cannot fathom how anyone would pay such a premium price for the most basic of comfort...

'If I have £1.5m as a pocket change, I wouldn't buy a glorified beach hut...

'That's astounding pricing. And not in a good way...

'It's very nice but I'm struggling to see how and why anyone would spend that money on a static caravan with just 31 years left on the lease.'

However, other users defended the high pricing and some suggested the property was 'great for Airbnb'.

One said: 'There are places you can buy a beach hut for £400,000. This isn't surprising in the least.'

Another added: 'Great location though.'
