Why Mother-killer Jessica Camilleri was back in court

Notorious mum-killer Jessica Camilleri has had time piled onto her jail term after she once again admitted to attacking prison guards.

Camilleri is serving a 16-and-a-half year sentence for brutally killing her mother inside their western Sydney home in 2019.

She was found guilty of manslaughter for the shocking attack, in which she stabbed her mother Rita at least 100 times, carved up her face and decapitated her.

But since being locked up, Camilleri has been hit with fresh charges for attacking correctional services officers.

Last year, she pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer and inflicting actual bodily harm.

She was sentenced to 22 months in jail for attacking two guards at Silverwater Correctional Centre and effectively had one year added onto her non-parole period, meaning she was first eligible for release in July 2032.

A video played to the court showed Camilleri yanking a fistful of hair from the scalp of one of the guards.

Camilleri was back before the courts on Thursday after she pleaded guilty to a similar attack on two female guards at Dillwynia Correctional Centre in March last year.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer.

In the Penrith District Court on Thursday, Judge Michael Allen sentenced Camilleri to 12 months in jail, with a nine-month parole period.

She was given a 25 per cent discount on her sentence owing to her early guilty plea.

Camilleri will now be eligible for release on 4 December, 2032.
