Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell gives update on Justin Jefferson’s OTA status

The Minnesota Vikings kicked off phase one of their organized team activities on Monday morning. This doesn’t involve any practices and is completely voluntary. However, many players show up as they receive workout bonuses for attending.

Sometimes, players who are waiting on a new contract choose not to attend the voluntary practices. It’s their prerogative to do what they need to do to secure their next contract. Head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media on Monday and was asked about wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s involvement in OTAs.

Is this a big deal for the Vikings? Perhaps, but it likely isn’t. Jefferson chose not to attend voluntary workouts but was there for all mandatory minicamps and training camp despite wanting a new contract. If that changes, it could end up becoming a big deal but for now, don’t worry Vikings fans. It’s likely going to be okay.
