The series debuted in 2021 and was renewed for a second season, which debuted in January 2023, not long after his near-fatal snowplow accident.

The upcoming third season will be his first project back to work since the accident, and he admitted to being ‘a little bit scared’ to be back at work.

He admitted, ‘I don’t know if I’m looking forward to it. Again, I try to just do everything kind of step by step here,’ after admitting he had ‘a lot of callousness squashed out of him’ from the accident.

‘That’s one foot in front of the other one. Then you’re walking. I think I’m excited when I’m there and I get in a rhythm there,’ he added.

‘I’m excited about the character and, of course, all the people involved and all that in the storyline, but for me, I’m just tentative of confidence in work’ Renner continued.

He admitted the show is ‘arduous’ since he films between 14 and 18-hour days, ‘in the freezing cold outside in Pittsburgh.’

On top of the long hours, he added he’s, ‘scared of slipping and falling,’ since he doesn’t possess the, ‘lower body strength’ he had before the accident.

Still, he admitted that he was, ‘excited’ to be back on the show, which started production earlier this month.

The actor shared an Instagram post from the set on January 10, admitting he was ‘nervous’ to get back to work.

‘Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans @mayorofkingstown @paramountplus,” he wrote in the caption.

At the same time, Paramount+ officially announced production had begun on the forthcoming third season of the series.

The show, ‘follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry.’

‘My friend reminded me I got home from ICU a year ago. Lucky man…’ he said on an Instagram story post.

‘I certainly got a lot of callousness squashed out of me by that machine,’ he said in an interview with People published on Saturday.

‘I’ve never been bitter but always maybe a little more callous, a little bit more tough,’ he explained.

‘And I just think those calluses are just scraped off me at this point. Literally, I feel pretty open and wonderfully sensitive and youthful. I’ve been blessed.
