Worcestershire CCC has paid tribute to cricketer Josh Baker, who has died suddenly at the age of 20.
Baker turned professional with the club in 2021 in his teens and the slow left-armer had signed a new three-year deal taking him to 2025 with the Pears last year.
The county spoke of Baker’s “vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm” as it said everyone was “united in grief” after announcing the former England U19 player’s death two weeks before his 21st birthday.
Ashley Giles, Worcestershire’s chief executive officer, said: “The news of Josh’s passing has left us all devastated. Josh was much more than a teammate; he was an integral part of our cricket family.
“We will all miss him terribly. All our love and prayers go out to Josh’s family and friends.”
