Wolastoqey chiefs demand support with banishment bylaw
A lot of our communities have chosen to. Develop draft and pass banishment bylaws. Which coincides with with with section 30 of the Indian Act. So there’s two pieces at play there. There’s section 30, which is trespass, which gives us the authority communities, the authority to. Charge individuals. That trespass that aren’t a member of our band. And then there’s the the, the bylaws, which in theory is supposed to be enforced and supported by the Crown and the RCMP. And that’s what’s not being done and that’s the systemic issue that. All of our communities face when it comes to this.
