Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been a team transformed this season with the return of Gautam Gambhir to the franchise in the new role of a mentor and the comeback of captain Shreyas Iyer after missing the 2023 season of the IPL due to injury.

In fact, since Gambhir’s departure in 2017, KKR has reached the playoffs just twice, having reached the second qualifier in the 2018 season and losing the final in 2021.

However, the appreciation for Gambhir has left ex-West Indies pacer Ian Bishop fuming. The cricket-turned-commentator was not happy with the lack of credit for skipper Shreyas Iyer. Replying to a KKR fan on X (formerly known as Twitter), Bishop asked if the blame would go to Gambhir when KKR did not win games.

“So GG gets the praise when they win. Shreyas gets the blame if they lose? Or will you say its GG’s fault to if they lose?,” wrote Bishop.

The cricket legend also reminded the fan of how Shreyas transformed the fortunes of Delhi Capitals after taking over the top job from Gambhir in 2018.
