When asked if he is only preparing for the 2024 elections or does he plan to run again in 2029, PM Modi said, “See, I’ll tell you, I don’t prepare for elections. Neither do I think about elections, nor do I plan my work with the election timetable in mind. I think about where this Nation will be when it turns 100 years old when we have reached a century of freedom.”
Giving an insight into his long-term planning, PM Modi cited his budget speech where he had said that he would institute a commission on demography keeping in mind that when India goes into 2047, its ageing population does not suffer.
“See, around the world many Nations are worried over the ageing of a large portion of their population. I don’t want that in 2047 there is no planning for our elderly. We are young now, but someday we’ll grow old. It’s the government’s job to think about it today. I think about it – when the youth of today grow old around 2047, that they aren’t helpless. We need to plan for this. I want to work at this level, with that thought process. I mentioned it in the Budget, the media may not have picked it up,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi also highlighted that there is no dearth of good leaders saying that he believes in hard work and winning people’s faith to be able to lead them towards the path of development.
“In politics, people come & people go. No country should run on the basis of one person. Modi would never want that the Nation runs squarely on the basis of Modi. My Nation is full of jewels. Innumerable jewels have been born here and will continue to be born and the Nation will move forward,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi took a subtle jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting the importance of hard work over leisure time. He encouraged individuals to dedicate themselves to shaping a prosperous future rather than merely relying on hopeful chants.
“Nobody can script their future only by chanting in hope. People should work hard, win people’s faith, be with people, and maybe reduce their vacation time a little bit,” PM Modi concluded.
