Orlando Pirates loanee to play against Bucs
AmaZulu are hosting the mighty Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday. Ben Motshwari knows this is not just any match.
NEDBANK CUP: AMAZULU VS ORLANDO PIRATES
The likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC will go first on Friday night and on Saturday afternoon, before the champions, Orlando Pirates arrive in Durban to challenge Usuthu. The match is set for Saturday evening at the Moses Mabhida Stadium; kick-off will be at 18:00. In the lead up to the game, Ben Motshwari, on loan from the Sea Robbers, believes that the Soweto giants should not expect AmaZulu to play the same football as Golden Arrows, whom Orlando Pirates annihilated 7-1 last weekend.
“It also goes with the approach, we are not Golden Arrows,” The Randfontein-born Motshwari said via FARPost.
“I think they had a different game plan, approaching that match. I don’t know what they were doing as they were hammered 7-1. But for us, it’s gonna be a different ball game altogether. For us we are cautious, hopefully, they finished those goals against Arrows,” the Orlando Pirates loanee added.
“Coming here is not gonna be easy for them. So we gonna give them a tough time. I think we do have quality, players that can play football and who can go pound-to-pound with them. Yes, they’re a big team, we respect them but this is football, anything can happen,” the 33-year-old midfielder said.
LOVE TO FACE BIG TEAMS
Speaking to TimesLIVE about the same game, Motshwari said he loves to face big teams like Orlando Pirates.
“I feel motivated playing against the big team,” the midfielder said.
“You don’t need motivation, the game on its own, it’s a motivation. But for me, I’m focused on playing the match and helping my team win.
“They are a good team and they’ve got quality players who can play into the pockets. But I think we’re more than capable. We did it in the first round [league match in which AmaZulu held (Orlando) Pirates to a 0-0 draw]. We drew with them when they came here, we didn’t create as many chances as we wanted.
“But this one is a cup game and is not like a league. It’s going to be a different ball game this weekend. Whoever wants it more will win and we’re more focused on us and trying to do what’s best for us to win the match. We know the capabilities of their team but for now we’re focusing on ourselves,” Motshwari concluded.
