Who is Kaizer Chiefs’ top DStv Premiership goal scorer this season?
Kaizer Chiefs are experiencing yet another forgettable 2023/2024 season thanks in many ways to the Soweto giants’ struggles in front of goal.
Amakhosi have found the back of the net on only 22 occasions in 26 DStv Premiership matches to date this season.
Only five teams in the 16-team league have scored fewer goals.
That number is also less than HALF the number of goals scored by champions Mamelodi Sundowns (47 goals).
The Glamour Boys are currently eighth in the DStv Premiership and are desperately clinging onto the final MTN8 spot.
Leading scorer
But who has been responsible for Kaizer Chiefs’ league goals?
As the time of publishing, Christian Saile and Pule Mmodi with four goals apiece are the Soweto giants’ joint leading scorers.
Edson Castillo and Ashley du Preez have each chipped in with three goals this league campaign.
Last season’s Golden Boot
Mamelodi Sundowns‘ Namibian star Peter Shalulile and Cape Town City FC’s Khanyiso Mayo proved last season to be the deadliest DStv Premiership strikers in the country with 12 goals apiece.
No will break – or come even close – to the all-time PSL record of 25 goals held by Zambia’s Collins Mbesuma while playing for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2004/05 season.
