Govt doesn’t wait for recognition of anyone: AL

Staff Reporter :

The elected government is not waiting for someone’s recognition as the people of the country have elected Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

“There’s no reason to believe that the elected government is in a desperate situation, waiting for someone’s recognition.

The elected government is not in such a condition of bankruptcy that we are waiting for someone’s recognition,” Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this while addressing a press briefing at the AL president’s office in the city’s Dhanmondi on Sunday.

Dismissing the notion that the government was desperate for validation, he said, “the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is burning with jealousy amid frustration and hatred, because a vast number of people have elected Sheikh Hasina as the prime minister, despite the party boycotting the election. Now, they are envious.”

Quader also commented on the BNP’s recent activities and said “BNP’s so-called movement is unclear and has become a joke both domestically and internationally. We view their actions as attempts to undermine our democratic culture.”

Issuing a stern warning, the AL General Secretary said, “While the BNP has the right to peaceful political activities, any acts of terrorism or public disruption will be met with appropriate legal actions.”

Regarding the government’s actions, Quader stated, “As a patriotic government, the Awami League is proactively managing commodity prices.”

He again warned against the BNP’s approach to protests, asserting, ‘If BNP resorts to violence under the guise of protest, our law enforcement agencies are prepared to act, and politically, we are ready to confront them.’

BNP’s alleged movement is the cause of destroying the country’s democratic culture, he added.

He further said if BNP resorts to violence in the name of agitation, the law enforcement agencies will do their duty against it and AL will also deal with it politically.
