Wednesday’s rapid fire: United Airlines, J.B. Hunt, ASML, Tapestry and Alcoa

And that’s moved to the rapid fire now. So United Airlines reported a smaller than expected loss, but an upbeat guide for the second quarter. There’s an example of what this market really wants. It wants conviction, it wants them to be able to raise a lot and that’s what you got. Yeah. On the other hand, JB Hunt weaker than expected quarter misses top and bottom line, weak demand for domestic intermodal service. One of the absolute few situations where the where the feds winning, but that’s because there’s too much supply. Yeah, ASML Holdings, Semi, the semi equipment maker, disappointing orders. Strange, because they do have the single most important part of intellectual property of capital equipment. But Taiwan semis up, which is why Nvidia’s up. I don’t expect NVIDIA to run because it’s people feel it’s done. It’s not. Interesting. All right, So Tapestry Capri got FTCS preparing to block the acquisition of Capri according to the New York Times. But this is pure insanity. Is this what the government is going to be worried about them? We can just count the FTC, Allison, as a serious orders. Yeah. And then we have alcohol higher on reports that President Biden is proposing tripling the tariff rate on Chinese steel and aluminum. Well, we don’t want Chinese steel invidious nailed down. I knew that it would go down. This is not the market for the time, OK. Aluminum opens are always tricky, right? In the market, aluminum is going down a lot. It’s going in the right direction. Anything that would change that and race it is a mistake. There’s no need for the tariffs. The tariffs have effectively already worked. Just a political grandstanding.
