WATCH: Willow Nightingale is the new No 1 contender for the TBS championship

Willow Nightingale had a big night on AEW Dynamite this week becoming the new No 1 contender for the TBS Championship.

Four women did battle to determine who would be the next challenger to the House of Black’s Julia Hart.

Nightingale and good friend Kris Statlander would compete against each other as well as Anna Jay and Hart ally Skye Blue.

In an exhilarating and hard-hitting match each women did what they could to get the upper hand.

Nightingale came into the evening ranked No 3 among the contenders in the women’s division in AEW.

Victory in this match has now secured Nightingale a championship match against Hart at Dynasty.

In a special treat “The CEO” Mercedes Moné was at the commentary desk for this match.

How it went down

Early on Skye Blue caught Statlander with a powerful thrust kick to get onto the offensive while Anna Jay caught Nightingale with a kick to the chin meaning the good friends wouldn’t need to lock up as they had to fight back into this one.

Once she splashed Anna in the corner and followed up with a lariat Nightingale got planted with a DDT from Skye Blue.

However, Statlander body-slammed Blue and put her down with a sliding lariat.

Statlander went for a body slam on Anna, but her victim escaped if only for a moment.

Statlander knocked Anna Jay down with a shoulder tackle.

Skye Blue then tripped up Kris from outside the ring, but Willow was there to pounce Skye out of her boots!

“A blindside pounce!” said Excalibur.

Willow was right in front of Mercedes when she pounced Skye giving the CEO the best view in the house.

Mercedes and Willow locked eyes and the CEO smirked at Nightingale, neither backing down and you better believe that their rivalry is far from settled.

Back in the ring, Statlander had outmuscled both Skye Blue and Anna Jay.

Anna Jay recovered and superplexed Statlander and covered her but Willow hit Anna with a senton to break up the pin.

Skye blasted Willow with the Code Blue, but this time, Statlander broke it up.

Stalander would crack Blue with a back breaker before Nightingale walloped Anna Jay with a shotgun dropkick off the second rope.

Even though Skye shoved Kris into her, Nightingale countered a dragon suplex attempt on the apron. Then, drilling Skye with a Death Valley Driver on the apron, Nightingale celebrated her efforts with fans.

Taking advantage of a melee in the ring Nightingale power bombed Anna Jay and pinned her to win the match.

As she celebrated the win TBS Champion Julia Hart jumped into the ring, blindsiding the No 1 contender with the championship belt.

Hart held her belt high, and she and Mercedes had a stare down to end this segment but not the story.
