SRH owner Kavya Maran in celebretory mood during SRH vs MI Game (BCCI Photos)
Sunrisers Hyderabad put up an enthralling performance in their first home game of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Pat Cummins-led side notched a 31-run triumph over the Mumbai Indians in a record-breaking high-scoring clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, March 27. SRH owner Kavya Maran, who was present in the stands, could not control her excitement after the hosts claimed their maiden win in this IPL. After SRH posted a record 277/6, MI went berserk in the early going of the chase, but the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket brought Kavya jumping off her seat as she looked quite ecstatic. Her cute reaction was captured on the broadcaster’s camera and later went widely viral.
Earlier, when Heinrich Klassen was going hammer and tongs with his South African counterpart, Aiden Markram, Kavya could barely believe what she was witnessing and brought a celebratory jig.

It was a memorable occasion not only for the Sunrisers Hyderabad fans but also for any cricket enthusiast in India. Winning the toss, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya decided to chase, perhaps considering the batting-friendly nature of the Hyderabad track.
Highest Team Total, 523 Runs, Expensive Spell: Full List of Records Broken During SRH vs MI in IPL 2024
The assessment was proven right when Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went all guns blazing for SRH. Both batters appeared at their devastating best and helped their side reach nearly 150 runs in the first ten overs. Head smashed 62 runs off 24 balls before losing his wicket to Gerarld Coetzee.
Following the Australian opener’s dismissal, Aiden Markram arrived at the crease and joined hands with Abhishek Sharma, who also looked quite dangerous. The 23-year-old Indian batter notched 63 off 23 deliveries and his blazing knock was laced with as many as seven sixes and three boundaries.
After Abhishek Sharma was sent off by veteran spinner Piyush Chawla, another power-hitter, Heinrich Klassen, took over the charge. The South African wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten 80 off just 34 balls. He got proper assistance from Aiden Markram, who played a 42-run knock. Riding on their contributions, SRH produced 277 runs, which is the highest team total in IPL history.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan made a positive start to the chase for Mumbai Indians. The duo, however, failed to survive long. Following their wickets, Tilak Verma showcased his big-hitting prowess and scored a 34-ball 64. Tim David also made some efforts in the end. However, it was not enough to chase down the massive target as MI.
