WA councillor under fire for Vladimir Putin praise

It was an unexpected appearance on Russian state television, But can I please pass on my? Newly appointed Port Headland councillor Adrian McRae congratulating President Vladimir Putin on his reelection, hailing the process as the most transparent in the world, an opposing view to Western nations. Completely unacceptable behavior. It’s bizarre commentary. It’s quite inaccurate commentary. Mr. McRae was reportedly invited to Moscow as part of an international delegation, seen here, with the opposition candidate receiving a badge of honour for strengthening the friendship between Australia and Russia. The town of Port Hedland stating the trip wasn’t on its watch, that the new councillor travelled to Russia in a personal capacity, and that the town does not comment on the personal activities of elected members. What I expect is the the town of Port Hedland to counsel that that councillor in terms of his conduct and his commentary. Mr. McRae previously spooked himself as a philanthropist, appearing on 60 Minutes climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and sharing the clip to his council election Facebook page. I believe in something strong enough to to make it work. He was voted into council this month, yet to be sworn in, but after this appearance supporters might have a few questions about their elected member. Quite frankly, I think we’re all a bit embarrassed. Tracy, VO9 News.
