Vivo Y18e expected to be priced under Rs 8,000 in India, specifications confirmed ahead of launch

Vivo is gearing up to launch a budget smartphone in the market. Called the Vivo Y18e, the phone has just been listed on Vivo’s official website and some key specifications have been confirmed. A report in 91 Mobiles says that the phone could be launched on May 10 this year. However, we won’t ask you to get too excited unless Vivo officially gives a launch date for the device. With that being said, let us take a look at some specifications that have been confirmed by Vivo ahead of the phone’s launch in India.Â

The Vivo Y18e will be featuring a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1612 × 720 pixels and 269 ppi. The display will come with a refresh rate of up to  90Hz for smooth visuals and performance. Additionally, it will be offering a peak brightness of up to 528 nits, and will cover 70 percent of the NTSC colour gamut. At the heart of the Vivo Y18e will be the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, promising a robust performance. The phone is expected to run on Android 14 out of the box, layered with Vivo’s FuntouchOS 14, enhancing the user interface.

Talking about the phone’s design, the Vivo Y18e will sport a waterdrop notch. It will have 16.363 cm ×7.558 cm × 0.839 cm dimensions and will weigh 185 grams. The phone will come with a plastic back cover.Â

The Y18e will be available in two colour options: Gem Green and Space Black, with the latter featuring a stylish golden accent around the camera module.Â

In terms of storage, the device is likely to offer a single configuration of 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage, expandable up to 1TB via a dedicated slot. Additionally, it could support an expandable RAM feature up to an extra 4GB.

The battery specifications, as per Vivo’s website, include a 5,000mAh unit paired with a 15W charger. The website also says that the charger will not be included in the box.Â

Coming to camera specifications, the Vivo Y18e is expected to have a dual rear camera setup featuring a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 0.08-megapixel secondary sensor. In the front, there will be a 5-megapixel camera for selfies. The front camera will also be capable of capturing night and portrait photos.

The device is listed with several additional features such as IP54 dust and water resistance, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB 2.0 Type-C port, and GPS capabilities. Notably, it lacks a fingerprint scanner.

As mentioned already, the phone is expected to hit the Indian market next week. 91 Mobiles also reports that it could be priced at Rs 7,999. However, we should wait for Vivo to confirm the price and phone launch details.Â
