Video: LeBron James Throws Down Thunderous Poster Dunk On Paul George
LeBron James had an instant classic highlight during the Lakers 106-103 win over the Clippers. In the win, LeBron met Paul George at the rim after a drive that resulted in the 39-year-old James jamming a ferocious dunk on George. The poster-worthy moment is arguably one of James’ best highlights of the season.
James ended the game with 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists as arguably the best player on the court. Paul George ended with 22 points and five steals in the loss, being the only Clippers superstar to have a competent outing tonight.
The dunk by LeBron is making the rounds around the world already, especially because of James Harden’s reaction to it in real-time.
This was an incredible moment but the kind we have come to expect from LeBron. That shouldn’t be taken for granted, as there aren’t any historic examples in the NBA where a 39-year-old who is in the 21st season of his career has put one of the prime defensive wings in the NBA on a poster. It’s quite incredible but not surprising because James has consistently delivered this moment regardless of his age.
One Of The Best Games Of The New Year
The start to 2024 in the NBA has been relentless, with this game marking the end of the first week of the year. Among the classics we’ve already seen, including tonight, this Clippers and Lakers game definitely deserves a spot.
The Clippers had a strong start to the game despite their stars not having a good night. They led the Lakers at the end of the first quarter by five points, but the Lakers started coming back in the second quarter. The Clippers entered halftime with a four-point lead but were blown away by a hot Lakers squad in the third quarter and entered the fourth quarter with a four-point lead of their own. The Clippers fought hard but the Lakers held on to a three-point win.
This win improves the Lakers’ record to 18-19 as they’re one step closer to being a ,500 team. Due to the Warriors being blown out by the Toronto Raptors, this win gave the Lakers the 10th seed once again. They still have to be wary of Golden State rising, especially with the impending return of Draymond Green. Even the Utah Jazz is right there, sitting one game behind the 10th seed.
LeBron has made it so far this season with good health on his side, something that the team has already taken for granted. James ended up getting hurt and being a shell of himself after February last season, so the Lakers have to be careful about that. Anthony Davis had spent the early season injured last year and was fresh for the late-season push, but even he’s had a heavy workload.
This game proved that even with James’ brilliance and AD’s consistency, the Lakers need a pure offensive option on the court to help their scoring. The defense won out tonight, but the modern NBA makes it hard for ace defenses to consistently hold teams under 105 points, as the Lakers did to the Clippers for the win tonight.
