This year, Taylor Swift has broken record after record, and now she's beaten one of her own with her latest album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD).

The 34-year-old pop superstar dropped the surprise double album on April 19 after announcing it during a Grammys acceptance speech in February. Within hours, TTPD started smashing streaming records, including becoming Spotify's most-streamed album in one day, with 300 million streams in 24 hours, the provider revealed on its social media.

Now the album has claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 album charts for the fourth week in a row, per Billboard. It is the first album to do so since Travis Scott's Utopia debuted at the top for four weeks straight from August 12, 2023, to September 2, 2023. TTPD is also the sixth album of Swift's—who has released 11—to reach No. 1 on the album charts.

The X account (formerly Twitter) belonging to Pop Crave, which shares entertainment news, says that Swift has broken her own record, writing: "Taylor Swift extends her record as the soloist with the most total weeks at #1 in Billboard 200 history (73)." Newsweek emailed Swift's publicist for comment on Monday.

At 67 weeks, Elvis Presley has the second-highest count among solo artists.

Swift is no stranger to breaking records. When TTPD was released, it gave rise to an impressive 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts. Her track "Fortnight," featuring the rapper Post Malone, set the record as the most-streamed song in a single day.

Prior to its release, TTPD broke the record for the most pre-saved album on Countdown Pages, a Spotify feature that allows users to preview track lists before an album release.

Swift also took the title for the biggest pop album of all time by first-day streams on Apple Music and also the most-streamed album on its first day alone on Amazon Music.

The singer-songwriter holds a range of records on Spotify, including becoming the first person to have five albums each with over 7 billion streams on the streaming service. In March, she became the first woman to have 10 solo singles get more than 1 billion streams on Spotify and, as of May 2024, she is the most-streamed artist of all time on the platform.

Swift's success with music sales, combined with her record-breaking Eras Tour, helped the singer land on Forbes' billionaires list for the first time.

The business media outlet wrote that the 14-time Grammy winner reached billionaire status in October, due partly to an "estimated $190 million post-tax earnings from her historic Eras Tour." Forbes added that Swift was the "the first person to [become a billionaire] based solely on songwriting and performing."

The Eras Tour started in March 2023 and is a three-and-half-hour show covering some of the biggest hits of her career, performed over 10 acts and representing the different phases of her life.

The tour has seen unprecedented demand and has made over $1 billion—breaking the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time, according to Guinness World Records.

After completing the European leg of her tour, she will make a few last-minute appearances in American cities, including Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis. She is scheduled to end her tour in Canada, with multiple shows in November and December. The tour is expected to conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, five days before her 35th birthday on December 13.
