VHP calls on all states to implement UCC like Uttarakhand
With the election of the current Working President and senior advocate Alok Kumar as the International President of Vishva Hindu Parishad and the current Joint General Secretary Bajrang Lal Bagra being elevated as the new Secretary General, the VHP has called on all the states to enforce Uniform Civil Code( UCC) as implemented in Uttarakhand.
The three-day meeting of the Central Board of Trustees and the Governing Council of VHP concluded on Tuesday at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya Dham, which discussed in detail the current situation of the country. Plans were made for the expansion of the VHP organisation in its ‘Shashtipurti year’ (diamond jubilee Year or 60th anniversary) to deal with the challenges faced by the Hindu society.
After the conclusion of the meet, the newly-elected VHP Secretary General Bajrang Lal Bagra said ”The representatives from Bharat and abroad discussed many topics in the meeting and resolved that as the grand Temple of Shri Ram has been re-built after five-centuries, now we, with the spread of ‘Ramatva’ (holistic, altruistic and syncretic Ram consciousness, refinement, grace and dignity) in the organisation, society and the diaspora Hindus, will re-establish a highly cultured and strong society.”
“For this, by the end of this ‘Shashtipurti’ year of VHP, we will ensure the organisational footprints of our work reach in about one lakh places across the country. We will again ensure a cultured, enlightened, committed, dedicated and safe Hindu society by invoking the values of Shri Ram again in the conscience and consciousness of every person,” he said.
The VHP Secretary General said subjects such as expansion of seva, protection and promotion of cow progeny, stopping of religious conversions, ghar-wapsi (home-coming) were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
He said the representatives from various foreign countries also presented their action plans to strengthen the liaison, togetherness and coordination among Hindus while living in their respective countries and proper solutions for their concerns and issues.
Congratulating the Uttarakhand government on implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Bagra said the Board of Trustees expressed the hope that the rest of the states of the country would also enact their respective strong Uniform Civil Codes, so that discrimination among the countrymen could end and also, all children and women could get equal rights.
Alok Kumar also said, ”We have done a lot of work in terms of social harmony, but a lot more needs to be done. Some states have made strict laws to stop religious conversions, but the Board of Trustees also urged that other states should also go in for similar laws.
”It was also underlined that as soon as the rules of CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) come into the public domain and are enforced, our Karyakartas ought to take immediate action to ensure Indian citizenship for Hindu, Jain, Sikh and Buddhist brothers and sisters from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who have taken refuge in India to save themselves from religious persecution and socio-economic traumatisation.”
During the meeting ,organisation elections were held and the new working president and Secretary General were elected. Along with this, the meeting also approved the appointment of the present Secretary General Milind Parande as the Central Sangathan Mahamantri (Organization General Secretary) of VHP and Vinayak Rao Deshpande as the Sah Sangathan Mahamantri (Organization Co-General Secretary).
A total of 371 representatives participated in this Ayodhya meeting.
