The Met Office has issued fresh yellow weather warnings for rain for parts of eastern and south-west England advising that flooding and travel disruption could be expected.
One warning, which comes into effect at 7pm on Saturday and is set to last until midday on Sunday, covers most of the east coast of England from Newcastle down to Colchester.
It also extends inland to cover areas including York and Cambridge.
Another, also for rain, is active from 6pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday, for Plymouth, Exeter and much of south-west England
New yellow weather warnings for rain have been issued by the Met Office in England
The Met Office said in both instances that showers could lead to some flooding, possibly to homes and businesses as well as travel routes – adding that as a result, road, bus and train journeys would “probably” be affected, with journey times expected to take longer.
As of early Saturday afternoon the Environment Agency had also issued 76 flood warnings – for areas where flooding is “expected” – across England, as well as a further 278 alerts for “possible” flooding.
It comes after a week of various severe weather warnings for snow, ice and rain across the UK following a busy winter storm season.
