UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas continued to load up on its roster, bulking up its backcourt by securing the commitments of Andrei Honrada and Lorenzo Competente.
Honrada, 18, is currently playing for Homegrown Australia in the 2024 Smart-NBTC National Finals where he put up nine points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in its 95-81 defeat to UNBL-Don Bosco Dumaguete in the Seeding Round on Monday.

He’s a 5-foot-8 guard who is eligible to play this coming UAAP Season 87.
On the other hand, Competente, 19, is a transferee from Far Eastern University and is a former Gilas Pilipinas Youth member. The 6-foot-2 gunner averaged 7.0 minutes and normed 1.5 points and 1.0 rebound in his rookie season with the Tamaraws last year.
UST competition for places
He will have to serve a one-year residency before he can suit up for the Growling Tigers in UAAP Season 88, where he will be reunited with his Gilas youth teammate Zain Mahmood.
“Ang maganda rito, tataas lalo yung competition ng mga bata. Talagang mula sa practice pa lang, kailangan na nilang magpakita,” said coach Pido Jarencio as he expects his two new recruits to battle it out with his incoming guards led by Forthsky Padrigao and Kyle Paranada.
