University of Windsor students show off remote car technology at German trade show

Do you think this is cool? I think it’s super cool. I think you got to drive a car across the world remotely, right? So it’s, I mean, who can say they’ve operated a car fully remotely across the world? We have a pretty cool driving simulator here at the lab and we shipped it to Germany. We obviously hooked it up with some sensors and some some other technology, sent it over to Germany and that is going to be able to control our chassis Dino which is our. Dino right behind me, which has an electric vehicle on it and they’ll be able to use that driving simulator to control our electric vehicle on our chassis. Dynamometer, dynamometer, dynamometer for me, treadmill for a car essentially. Essentially, I like to put it that way, right? Can you guys just give it another one there? So it just allows us to basically test our vehicles stationary. We can go up to, you know, speeds up to 200 miles an hour. And this all happens right in front of us. So there’s all instrumented sensors and everything like that in front of us so we can get all our data. How’s it going in Germany? So far so good. We’ve been getting a lot of attraction. We’re here in Canadian Pavilion. I think everyone’s pretty excited that we’re in Germany. We’re getting to drive a vehicle that’s located in Canada and the feedback from the precursor portion of it is pretty impressive to see and learn about the capabilities that we that we do have. What is the use case for this technology? Like what do you hope happens with it? Yeah, exactly. So I mean, first and foremost, putting Windsor on the map. So we’re kind of showing off our capabilities and what we have here, the equipment, the resources we have in Windsor and then secondly, perhaps remote research in the future. So, you know, people could essentially have us bring their bring our driving simulator to them and they can do all their testing from there. So we’re their own, you know, workplaces with EVs, with the targets of 2035. I think that this is going to be an essential. For a lot of different companies and the University of Windsor is going to be able to help fulfill their research needs.
