Orlando Pirates boss Jose Riveiro has explained why he substituted Karim Kimvuidi against Polokwane.
Riveiro explains Kimvuidi change
21-year-old Karim Kimvuidi started his sixth league game of the campaign and looked dangerous before he was taken off after 68 minutes. Pirates’ Spanish tactician explained they wanted to mix things up and Kimvuidi also looked tired. There are moments where the players can get tired, there’s many things for the players during the week that you don’t know and people don’t know,’ he said to iDiski Times.
Sometimes people don’t understand the subs but there are always reasons behind them. The first one is that we want to win and we’re looking for something else.“
Karim did a good job, he has chances. He helped us a lot in the progression in attack, but we were looking for something else or try something different to try unlock the defensive position of Polokwane City.
“And [he was] a little bit tired in that moment. You remember, he lost three balls in a row before the sub and usually when players like Karim or even Rele [Mofokeng] they make that type of mistakes, the fatigue is behind that.
“Luckily for us, we have the same type of quality on the bench. It doesn’t matter who is coming from the bench, it’s usually a good sub. So that’s what we try every time.”
SUNDOWNS IN FOR ORLANDO PIRATES TARGET MOREMI
According to Soccer-Laduma, Mamelodi Sundowns lead Pirates in the race for AmaZulu star Tshepang Moremi.
“As it stands now, Sundowns are in the lead. They have already tabled an offer for Moremi and you know most times when Sundowns have gone in front to sign a player they normally get him. It’s tough because Orlando Pirates are also interested in him so it will all depend on what AmaZulu are looking at. It could go to the highest bidder at the end of the day,” said one source.

Pirates are behind SuperSport and Cape Town City by just two points in the standings. Next up for the Buccaneers is a meeting with rock-bottom Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday and then a Soweto Derby with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.
