UB40's biggest hit in decades

Congratulations. I mean in at #5, I mean you, you guys must be ecstatic. Yeah, it’s brilliant news. What can I say? It’s been a long time since we’ve been in the charts. Although I must say, we never stopped working as a band. You know, we’ve been touring for the whole of those 45 years, so we’re still like really inside the business in that way. But certainly as far as records are concerned, it’s it’s obviously we’ve had in a couple of decades. So yeah, we’ve chopped, as the people might say, Yeah, we’re really happy. Why do you think that there has been? This longevity to the band and and the continued interest in it, I mean I wonder whether it might actually be something to do with the genre, the genre of music that you play and that that that unique sound that you guys have. I think you’re absolutely right there. I think I mean a lot of bands started in the 80s along with us, but they sound like the 80s where I think because we chose Greggy as a genre that transcends the time that that you know we were we were starting with and then you know that Reggie is an international musical language. And it’s popular everywhere, popular in almost every island you can go to. They have a reggae band or a few reggae bands there. I think people just relate to it. You know, it can be political, but also it can just be love songs. And you know, it’s not it’s it’s a it’s an accessible style of music for a lot of people, certainly is. It certainly is.
