Two youths killed in road crash after jumping the red light in Ipoh
IPOH: Two youths were killed after their motorcycle crashed with a car at the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah-Jalan Jambu traffic intersection.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the victims, aged 17 and 18, died on the spot during the incident on Tuesday (April 16) at about 10.40pm.
“The victims, coming from the direction of Chemor, were believed to have failed to obey the traffic light before crashing with a car from the opposite direction.
“The victims’ bodies were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital mortuary for post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
“The driver of the car, 30, was not injured,” he added.
ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the case would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death due to reckless driving.
“Those who witnessed the incident should come forward to the nearest police station or contact investigating officer Insp Jong Pit Chiao at 016-884 9163 to assist the investigations,” he said.
