KL cops smash diesel smuggling ring, over one million litres seized
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a syndicate smuggling subsidised fuel with the seizure of over one million litres of diesel.
Federal Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said they raided a yard in Klang on Tuesday (Jan 9) with the Wildlife Crime Bureau/Special Investigations and Intelligence Unit.
“We arrested two local men and ten foreign men.
“We also seized 1,022,860 litres of subsidised diesel, 18 tanker trucks and 16 skid tanks which contained between 2,000 and 114,640 litres of diesel,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 11).
He said they also seized 14 oil pumps and two books containing stock keeping details.
“Between Jan 1 and 10 this year, the Wildlife Crime Bureau/Special Investigations and Intelligence Unit has made seizures amounting to over RM39.25mil and arrested 40 individuals.
“The police are committed in our cooperation with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry to combat misappropriation of subsidised and controlled items to ensure national revenue is always protected,” he said.
