Trolls call me selfish for having a baby born without arms or legs

A mother has hit back at trolls who called her ‘selfish’ for having a daughter who was born without any arms or legs.

Kiara Duprey, 24, and her husband Javier Floreniani, 21, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were told their baby’s limbs weren’t developing at the 12 week scan – and think that ‘she’s beautiful no matter what’.

Eight-month-old Arianna can already hold a bottle and sit up by herself. Now, she is waiting to see when she’ll be able to have prosthetics.

‘As long as she’s happy I am,’ stay-at-home mother Kiara added.

She revealed that cruel comments left by strangers online were difficult to stomach  initially.

‘It was hard at first,’ she revealed. ‘I was bullied and I have all my limbs.

‘I’m trying to teach her that not everybody in this world is cruel.’

Kiara added that she thinks many trolls have the misconception that her daughter is paralysed, whereas ‘she can move’.

‘She does everything a normal kid does,’ the mother added.

Kiara and Javier, a maintenance man, were excited when they found out they were expecting in November 2022.

But a few months in, Kiara was told her baby hadn’t developed limbs.

‘They were trying to pressure me to get an abortion,’ she explained. ‘Right away I was asked if I wanted to terminate.

‘But God did this for a reason. This is the way God decided to bring her to us. Just because she’s coming a little different doesn’t mean I should abort her.’

Doctors originally thought Arianna had Roberts syndrome – a genetic disorder characterised by limb and facial abnonormalities – and thought she would likely not make it to full term

But miracle Arianna arrived via a scheduled c-section on July 28, 2023, at 9.40am weighing exactly 5lbs – and Kiara admitted the moment was both ‘exciting’ and a ‘relief’

Doctors originally thought Arianna had Roberts syndrome – a genetic disorder characterised by limb and facial abnnormalities – and thought she would likely not make it to full term.

‘They thought she would mostly likely die and be stillborn,’ Kiara said.

But miracle Arianna arrived via a scheduled c-section on July 28, 2023, at 9.40am weighing exactly 5lbs – and Kiara admitted the moment was both ‘exciting’ and a ‘relief’.

She was diagnosed with transverse limb deficiency and stayed in hospital for a week – being monitored for a heart murmur – before coming home.

‘Right now she is trying to lift her head up when lying down,’ the mother gushed. ‘She’s doing really great.

‘She’s very determined. When her pacifier falls out she tries to put it back in her mouth.’
