TRANSFER WATCH: Kaizer Chiefs target fires blanks

Walter Bwalya is reportedly on the Kaizer Chiefs wish list but the Congolese striker had a game to forget this week in the AFC Cup semi-finals.

Kaizer Chiefs target has a day to forget

According to FotMob, a stats-based live score app, 28-year-old Al-Nahda striker Walter Bwalya was the worst player on the pitch in yesterday’s AFC Cup semi-final 1st leg clash between Nahda and Al-Ahed. In the Oman Professional League, Bwalya’s Al-Nahda side are in second place but already trail leaders Al-Seeb by 11 points after 16 games. It’s not all doom and gloom though. Bwalya has three goals and an assist from only six appearances in the league this term, a campaign somewhat interrupted by injuries. He has vast experience after bouncing around the club scene in Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Bwalya and his colleagues can atone for their defeat in the AFC Cup semi-final second leg on Tuesday 23 April.

AMAKHOSI FIND CHEAP ALTERNATIVE TO KHUNE?

At the other end of the pitch, Amakhosi are desperate to find a long-term replacement for the soon-to-be-departing club skipper Itumeleng Khune

Chiefs were reportedly interested in signing Nigeria and Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. However, the 27-year-old, who was a standout performer at Afcon with the Super Eagles, would fetch a transfer fee of over R35 Million. According to iDiski Times, Amakhosi are looking at the potential free transfer of Richards Bay keeper Salim Magoola. The Natal Rich Boys are struggling to fend off relegation this season. Magoola has kept only four clean sheets in 19 league appearances this term.

“SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are amongst the sides mulling over Salim Magoola. He could be available on a free transfer. Chiefs are looking to add an experienced stopper to their squad with Itumeleng Khune poised to retire. Magoola who has emerged as one of the leading performers in the league alongside Ronwen Williams and Stanley Nwabali has naturally attracted interest from Amakhosi” they said.
